Hi! I’m Cathy

Welcome to my website – I’m an ecstatic dance facilitator that is somatic trauma informed, amatuer DJ, truth-seeker, earth and community lover, and a devoted student of embodied presence.

My path into ecstatic dance opened during a time when I was seeking deeper connection, after a long struggle with PTSD and an eating disorder. I wanted to feel at home in my body again, to learn how to safely experience my emotions, and to connect with nature and community. Something my mind, body, and soul had deeply craved for a long time.

Through various explorations, I discovered that movement isn't just about expression, it's a return. A return to breath, to sensation, to the quiet truth beneath the noise. When connecting with an intention before each dance, I began to meet parts of myself that had long been waiting to be seen. I never considered myself someone who danced, but ecstatic dance changed that. It completely shifted my perspective on what it means to move — and to truly experience freedom and expression in a whole new way.

At the heart of my work is the belief that dance is a form of open presence. Each step, shake, or stillness is an invitation to tune in, soften, and witness ourselves just as we are. It’s a space to inhabit the body and gently quiet the mind. In a world that constantly asks us to perform or perfect, ecstatic dance offers something radically different: the freedom to just be.

I guide spaces where music becomes the map, and your body becomes the compass. There are no steps to follow, no way to “get it right”, only an open field where all emotions, energies, and rhythms are welcome. This practice is not about escape, but about coming homeagain and againto the wisdom within.

Ecstatic dance, for me, is deeply intertwined with mindfulness and self-compassion. As we move, we learn to witness ourselves without judgment, to hold both our joy and our shadows with gentleness. It is a practice of balance: between energy and rest, discipline and surrender, individuality and community. Healing doesn’t have to be heavy; it can be rhythmic, embodied, and even joyful.

I find nourishment in nature, music, and the small sacred things, my favourites are; beautiful sunsets, listening to the birds, admiring flowers, hugging trees, a hot sauna, creating art, learning about my passions and soul-deep conversation with friends.

I draw inspiration from somatic movement, meditation, trauma-informed practices, and the natural intelligence of the body. Every event I hold is a space for collective healing, exploration, remembrance and play.

For me, ecstatic dance is a kind of prayer to the aliveness we carry within. It’s where I’ve learned that healing isn’t linear, and that we don’t have to do it alone.

If you're longing to reconnect, to move freely, and to live from a more centred place, you're warmly invited to join me.

Let’s dance back into ourselves.
